Therapy for Adults and Couples in Raleigh, NC & Statewide via Telehealth

Finding the right therapist is not easy. It is not just about credentials—it is about connection. You need someone you can be honest with. Someone who feels human, relatable, insightful, and capable of sitting with the hard stuff without judgment. I’m Kristin—but most people call me Kris. I’m a mom of three, and I came to this work later in life after living a few different chapters of my own. My path to becoming a therapist has been shaped by personal loss, reinvention, relationships, resilience, and a deep desire to help people navigate the messiness of being human. I often describe myself with words like mother, adoptee, orphan, divorced, empty-nester, Generation X, and small business owner. Clients and colleagues tend to describe me as warm, directive, insightful, real, and, of course, extroverted.Very little shocks me, and chances are you are carrying struggles that feel difficult to explain or too heavy to share with the people around you. You do not have to carry them alone. From day one, I am in your corner, and we will face those challenges together as a team.

Each part of my identity has shaped the way I understand relationships, loss, identity, transition, and the complicated realities people carry behind closed doors. Every individual and couple I work with also brings a different perspective that continually deepens my understanding of people and relationships. My approach is collaborative, honest, and solution-focused. Many middle-aged clients are less interested in endlessly revisiting the past and more interested in gaining clarity, feeling emotionally unstuck, and finding a path forward that brings relief and peace. A large number of my clients feel stuck in “limbo,” mentally replaying scenarios every day while weighing the pros and cons of major life decisions. That emotional exhaustion can quietly consume people.

Some of the areas we commonly work through together include:

◆ Sexual concerns
◆ Pre-grief and loss (jobs, parents, spouse, etc.)
◆ Menopause and hormonal shifts
◆ Divorce and relationship transitions

I also enjoy working with individuals who feel like the rug has been pulled out from under them after doing everything “right.” The world has changed in ways many of us never anticipated, and it can leave people feeling unsteady, disoriented, and unsure of what comes next.

"Owning our story and loving ourselves through that process is the bravest thing that we'll ever do."
- Brené Brown
"When closeness fades it often means connection needs a new language. Let's uncover what makes you feel seen, safe, and wanted."
- Kris Lawson
